The trip to Yosemite, or there and back again

So we went to Yosemite national park at the beginning of this month, and camped at Crane Flat, (just outside of the valley) from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. The drive down was relatively uneventful, the car handled well and so on. One of the unexpected bonuses was how pretty it was through the Toiyabe National forest. The highway goes right through the middle of the park, and it was really nice. Might have to go back there at some point.

A storm is coming

Reno is expecting to be hit by the remnants of typhoon Melor tonight, and we’re getting ready to weather it out. I’m considering even setting up a webcam pointing out my office window to share the view. I’ll let you know here if I decide to.

A certain nip in the air

bildeDespite the fact that it was 90 on sunday, we had our first snowfall of the season in the sierra on wednesday, and it’s looking like we might get our first snow on the valley floor this coming sunday. This is actually abnormal, as we usually don’t see our first snowfall until Oct. 31st. Does this mean we’re going to have a hard winter? Only time will tell. This is shaping up to be an El Nino year, and we are right on the line of the wet/dry demarcation.
